August Favourites

Because I love looking at other people's Monthly Favourites posts/videos so much I thought I'd start putting up my Monthly Favourites. And while in an ideal world I'd like to have started this at the beginning of the year,  life isn't perfect, so here I am starting this off with my August favourites.

I'm gonna mix it up a bit and include EVERYTHING. So I'll be including beauty, lifestyle, craft, food, music and movie faves and anything else that tickles my fancy. Sometimes there may be more of one that there is of another.
I'm so excited, so let's get started...........

Let's start with beauty. This first one has been a favourite for quite a while now, so much so that I just repurchased it for the third time (which is practically unheard of for me). It's the Seventeen Falsifeye HD Mascara (Boots €9.49), it's top of my beauty faves this month.

I've found myself reaching for the Maybelline Baby Lips Balm (Boots €3.99) in peach more and more this month for when I want a bit of colour but don't want to wear lipstick. This does the job perfectly while also keeping my lips moisturised. I also love the smell of it.

Versace Vanitas Perfume (Amazon £25.66) has been my everyday perfume for the last while. I first got a sample of this in a Glossy Box ages ago and fell in love with it immediately. At the time it was only available from Harrods in London and when I looked it up on their website the postage cost nearly as much as the perfume so it just didn't seem logical to purchase it. Time went by and while browsing through the winter sale on the Debenhams website 12 months ago 3 guesses what I spotted. I took it as a sign and purchased this little beauty and haven't regretted it since. At first I kept it for evening and special occasion wear but when I used up my regular everyday perfume I started using this one as my daily scent.

I love using the Simple Eye Make-up Remover Wipes but they're a little bit on the pricey side. These Tesco Eye Make-Up Remover Pads (Tesco €1.99) are exactly same. They're unscented, the same size, have a textured side to make sure they remove any stubborn eye make-up and they're gentle enough for contact lens wearers.
At €1.99 they're a fraction of the cost of the Simple ones. Also being pads and not a liquid means they're ideal for packing for any holidays.

The last while I've been using this Maybelline Eyebrow Mascara (Boots €7.49 ) on my brows. I've never liked how brow powders or pencils look on my brows but this brow mascara is so easy to use, looks so natural and is the perfect match for my brows that I can't see myself ever using anything else.

I had been eyeing up this Mitchem Cream Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant (Tescos €6.99) in my local Tescos for quite a while but thought that the €6.99 price tag was a bit much so I skipped buying it. And then I saw Fleur De Force mention it on You Tube and she said how good it was. She has never led me astray with products before so I took her word for it and popped it in my basket the next time I was in shopping. I'm happy to say I haven't regretted my purchase. It does everything it says and is definitely my favourite to use now.

Bookwise I've been reading On The Water's Edge By Sara Gruen (AmazonUK, AmazonUS ). If the authors name is familiar to you it maybe because she is also the author of Water for Elephants that was later made into a movie starring Robert Pattinson & Reese Witherspoon.

My final favourite of the month is a food favourite and it's this Kelkin Popcorn (Tesco €2.79). You're probably saying it's just popcorn, what's so special about that? Well let me tell you..... This popcorn comes in sachets that are suitable for one. I LOVE this because I love snacking on popcorn when I feel like a salty snack. But if I use the ordinary sachets it makes WAY too much and I can't help but eat it all because I love popcorn that much! Also I prefer the popcorn that you pop yourself because the smell of it just makes it all the more appetising to me, so these smaller sachets are just perfect!

So there you have it. That's what I've been loving this month. Let me know what you've been loving in the comments below.

What's In My Make-Up Bag

I've been meaning to do a 'What's in my Make-Up' Bag for the longest time. I love being nosey and seeing what other people keep in their bags so here's what I have in mine at the moment.......

The bag I'm using is one I got back in May just before I went on holidays to LA. I got it in Penneys and what attracted me too it (besides the lovely pattern) was the fact that it had 2 sections. My last make-up bag was just a one section bag and for holiday packing I like to have things in different compartments to make it easy to put my hands on things.
I think it was around the €4/€5 mark.

Ok so the first (and most important) thing in here is my foundation. The one I use (and swear by) is Maybelline's Dream Satin in 10 Ivory. I love this stuff more than life itself. I found it really difficult to find something that suited my skin and gave me the look that I wanted. This was the only one that worked for me and I've been using it for a good 2 years now.

Next up, concealer. I find the Collection Lasting Perfection one covers any blemishes and doesn't look chalky or dry on my skin (a problem I often have with other concealers). Also it's a good match for my skin shade.

Onto the eyes. At the moment I'm using Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara in Very Black. I got the Waterproof one for holidays and love it. Love the size of the brush, it's small enough to be able to get all those little lashes in the corners.
Maybellines Brow Drama in Dark Brow, this is a Sculpting Brow Mascara. And No7's Lash & Brow Perfector which is a clear gel.
If it's not obvious by now I'm a big Maybelline fan. I just find their products suit my skin and they're just really good.
So the next thing in my bag is the 24hr Color Tattoo in the shade On & On Bronze.

I have 2 eyeliners. The main one I'm using at the moment is Max Factors Excess Intensity in Black. I've been using it a while now and can't fault it. It stays put and I like that you can just twist it up and don't need to bother with the hassle of sharpening it.
The second one is one I bought on holiday's and is Sephora's Crayon Contour in 32 Tango night.
I also have an Eyko eyelash curler that was a freebie with a magazine a few months back and a HD Brows tweezers that came with a Glossy Box.

Last but by no means least are Lip Products. I have quite a few of these. They seem to have built up a bit {blush}.
First up is this RimmelVinyl Gloss in Cosmic. I feel like I have this a long time. I think I picked this up in London but I love the colour of it and still use it quite a bit.

Garnier Factor 20 Lip Protection. This is still in here from my holidays.

I have 2 Tanya Burr lipglosses (which I must do a review on). The shades I have look very similar in the tubes but on the lips they're quite different. I like nudes so I went for Chic and Afternoon Tea.

And last but by no means least is my favourite lip product. It's a Maybelline (yep) Colour Elixir. I purchased 2 of these while in LA. This one is in the shade Mauve Mystique. I'll be dong a full review and talking more about these in a future post.

And THAT is everything in my make-up bag.

Here's a look at everything you get in the bag.

You get products from 3 different ranges that all co-ordinate with each other.

Halloween Owl Card

My neighbour asked me last minute to make a Halloween card for her to send to her
grandkids in America.
She had tried various shops around town but had no luck in finding one.
Of course I agreed but then I ran into the little problem of not actually having ANY Halloween card making supplies and not having anytome to purchase any either.
I'm quite happy with how it turned out and the more important thing is so was my neighbour.

I also decorated the inside of the card and the envelope.

REVIEW: Ren Cleansing Gel & Day Cream

I was anxious to try the Hydra-Calm Cleansing Gel and Hydra-Calm Global Protection Day Cream by Ren. I had tried the Ren Beauty Balm and liked it a lot but wanted to give the sensitive skin range a go.

Cloud 10 Beauty used to do a kind of tester box with 5 of the products from the range and I actually wanted to get that to try them out. Unfortunately it was out of stock when I was placing my order so I took the plunge and ordered the full size products.

When I first used the gel cleanser I wasn't sure about the smell (I know such a small thing) but it was the first thing that hit me. With the balm I LOVED the smell of it, it reminded me of a beauty spa smell and I think I expected the gel cleanser to be the same but obviously with different ingredients in it, it wasn't. It had a very organic/clean kind of smell, not bad by any means just not what I expected. Now that I'm used to it I love it. And another thing I LOVE about this is that there are no synthetic perfumes added to it because a lot of the time that's what would make me have an allergic reaction.
I use two pumps of cleanser to wash my face and it foams up really well so you could use it with a Clarasonic too (if you have one). Even though I have a Clarasonic I decided to just use the cleanser on it's own to see how it would perform.
My skin, as I've said MANY times before is HYPER Sensitive and I also have a bit of Rosacea on my cheeks, so sometimes even things that are for sensitive skin can break me out or make me red. I'm glad to say this didn't. It's SO gentle on your skin but still makes you feel squeeky clean. It removes make-up gently but thoroughly and leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated.
I would recommend this product to anyone even if they don't have sensitive skin.

Onto the Moisturiser. I'm sad to say this just didn't suit my skin. I wasn't allergic to it but I've found that my skin of late has been more sensitive/dry when before it used to be sensitive/oily and because of that after 3 days of use I started to get red dry patches along my jawline.
Once I switched back to my old/regular moisturiser (Cetaphyl) the patches disappeared.
If your skin is leaning towards being oily then this would be perfect for you. It just didn't suit my dryer skin at the moment.

When I was younger and had really oily but still really sensitive skin it was very difficult (make that impossible) to find something on the market that my skin didn't react to because all the products for oily skin were so harsh. THIS would have been perfect.

I will definitely be trying it out again when my skin goes through it's oily phase which still happens every now and then.
I hope my thoughts on these products helped you if you were thinking of trying them out.
Like I said above I got mine on Cloud 10 Beauty. They're a really good Irish website where you can find products that aren't easily available in the shops here in Ireland.

What I love as well is that you get free samples with your order and what's better is that you can choose your samples. With my order above I got 3 frees samples. Here's what I picked out. I am IN LOVE with the sigma brush. Such a handy size for my handbag!
I have since ordered my second bottle of Ren Cleansing wash and also a Ren Mask that I wanted to try. So l'll let you know what I think of the mask after I've used it a few times.

Ciate Caviar Nail Polish Set Free With July's Marie Claire

I really meant to get this post up earlier. I actually picked this up last week. I still saw it in the shops today but I doubt it'll be there for much longer so grab it if you see it.
I always wanted to try out the caviar nails so this mini size is just perfect. I love the colour of the nail polish too. I'm not too sure if there's enough caviar for all my nails so I'm planning on just putting it on my 2 ring fingers.

Also it looks like August's Marie Claire will be worth picking up too.
Here's a sneak peek of what's free with it........
